In this course, we’ll learn the fundamentals of fine art: pencil drawing. Black and white drawing serves as a prelude to learning color painting.

We will create enough designs that you can be proud of.

The course is conducted interactively, via the Zoom video communication program. It includes 9 lessons held weekly from February 3 to April 2 , 2026.

Language:

Please, note these lessons will be conducted in Russian.

We will learn what drawing is, what types there are, and how it can help us in our creativity!
We will begin to distinguish the features of lead pencils with different “names” and learn to use each one for its intended purpose!
We will actively use such concepts as “tone”, “shading”, “shading”, “gradient”, “light”, “glare”, “shadow”, “penumbra”, “reflex”, “falling shadow”, “proper shadow”, “one-point/two-point/three-point perspective”, “composition” and many others!
We'll gradually move from the simplest tasks to more complex lessons, but each task will be manageable because we'll move step by step, applying the knowledge and skills of the previous ones in each new lesson!

FOR WHOM THIS COURSE

The course is ideal for children, teenagers, and even adults who have developed a keen interest in drawing realistically (usually around age 8) but don’t know where to begin.
Since the format is family-friendly, other family members can participate for free, with no feedback required. This means the course is open to all artists in your family over this age, with no age limit.

This course is for those who want to learn the basics of fine art, but perhaps don’t want to buy all the art supplies at once. All you’ll need is thick A4 paper, high-quality pencils, and an eraser.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Any visual arts project begins with an idea and a sketch. Based on a drawing, we can create a fine art piece using any technique and material.
Without a basic understanding of drawing, it’s virtually impossible to succeed in other areas of the visual arts: painting, graphics, sculpture, architecture, design, etc.
In this course, students will gain the fundamental knowledge they need to draw any idea they have.

MATERIALS FOR THIS COURSE

– at least 15 thick, white, smooth A4 sheets. Printer or drawing paper with a thickness of at least 160 GSM is suitable.

– Pencils of varying hardness and softness.
The minimum required are pencils marked:

1. “H”/”H2”
2. “HB”
3. “2B”
4. “6B”/”8B”

– a rectangular white eraser
– a sharpener,
and for older students, a sharp utility knife can be used
– white paper napkins
