ABOUT THIS COURSE
In this course, we’ll learn about manga and how it differs from anime. We’ll explore its fascinating history: its founder, Hatsushiko Hakusai, its development throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, Osamu Tezuka’s groundbreaking comic “Astro Boy,” and discover the secrets behind its astonishing worldwide popularity.
We’ll learn interesting facts about manga, its creation, the specifics of its drawings, and its secret symbolism known only to those in the know. We’ll discuss the phenomenon of manga, why it has so many supporters and detractors, and why almost no one remains indifferent to it.
And, of course, we’ll practice drawing close-up and full-length portraits of people in manga style, taking into account the specific symbolism and stylistic features characteristic of this style.
This is one of the most frequently requested topics by students. It’ll be interesting!
The course is conducted interactively, via the Zoom video communication program. It includes 9 lessons held weekly from April 22 to June 18, 2026.
Language:
Please, note these lessons will be conducted in Russian.
Price:

FOR WHOM THIS COURSE
The course is ideal for children, teenagers, and even adults with children who are interested in drawing in the manga style but don’t know where to start. Since the format is family-friendly, other family members can participate for free, with no feedback required. This means the course is open to all artists in your family, regardless of age.
This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to draw in the manga style!
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Children will learn the characteristics of manga drawing: construction and proportions that are close to realistic (except for facial features), which will be useful later when drawing people.
This will be more than just cute drawings. We will learn about the history and phenomenon of manga, learn about the symbolism of this genre, and apply it to our own work.
Furthermore, students will easily be able to draw in this style.
