ABOUT THIS COURSE

What is the most reliable way to approach professionalism in the fine arts?
Practice, practice, and a lot more practice!
What makes an artist a professional?
The ability to see, notice features, catch proportions, convey character and, of course, your own, unique style.

Sketching helps us achieve all this quite quickly – through quick sketches of everything we see around us. But, unlike sketches of large future works, such a quick sketch is a complete finished work by itself. And it doesn’t matter whether you spent 30 seconds or an hour and a half working.

In this course we will try to sketch everything we can see in the urban environment: people (general silhouettes, full-length figures in different poses, we will draw portraits), transport, architecture, urban scenes, food, pets.
The course will be an excellent start for those who have long wanted to start drawing in their own sketchbook, but did not know where to start, will encourage those who have already started to continue, and will encourage those who have not even thought of starting to try.

The course is conducted interactively, through the video call program Zoom. It consists of 9 lessons, conducted weekly from from April 18 to June 20, 2024.

Attention: April 25th is a public holiday in Australia, there will be no lesson. The first lesson of the course will be held on April 18th instead of April 25th. For the Saturday group, the first lesson will be held on April 20th instead of April 27th.

Time of Lessons:

– Every Thursday, 5:00pm – 6:30pm Queensland time (UTC/GMT+10)
(the same time in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra);

or (provided we get enough participants for one more group learning on Saturdays)

– Every Saturday, 5:00pm – 6:30pm Queensland time (UTC/GMT+10)
(the same time in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra)

FOR WHOM THIS COURSE

This course is great for older kids. The recommended age is from 8-10 to 16 years, but since the format is family-based, this means that other family members can participate for free, without feedback. It turns out that the course is for all artists over this age in your family, without any age limit.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

What we plan for the course:

– we will learn about the basics of drawing quick sketches on various topics,
– we will try to do this with different materials,
– we will find our own style,
– we will start drawing on our own, outside of school hours, in our own sketchbook,
– students will learn to see, feel, convey the external image and character of nature,
– we will gain new experience and make good progress in the skills of vision and drawing from life.

MATERIALS FOR THIS COURSE

– black liner or fine gel pen
– black brush pen
– white gel pen
– coal of different sizes
